Laboratory Assistant / Onsite in Venice, FL
$18.00 – $22.00 Per Hour Plus Benefits
Monday – Friday / 8:00am – 5:00pm
Enzymedica, a worldwide leader in the enzyme supplement industry, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant who will work in Enzymedica’s fast-paced QA Laboratory team performing the day-to-day quality control and supporting ongoing projects, while continuously acquiring new skills. This is an exciting opportunity and some of your responsibilities will include analyzing samples and finished products for microbiological contaminants (sample preparation, liquid culture, plating), quantitatively analyzing enzyme activity of various enzymes in samples and finished products and operate and monitor performance of lab equipment. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
- College degree, associate degree or higher is required ideally in the fields of chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry or similar.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office).
- This is an entry level position; a positive can-do attitude is a must.
- Comfortable wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to, hair net, face mask, foot covers, lab coat, gloves protective footwear, compression- and impact-resistant shoes to have built-in toe caps.
- Strong team player who is eager to support varied functions of the SA department.
- Ability to multi-task, work efficiently and orderly in a fast-paced environment and manage time accordingly in order to meet deadlines and requirements of the organization.
- Willingness to embrace a diverse range of quality control standards.
- Must be able to maintain high degree of confidentiality.
- Communication and general writing abilities.
- Available for possible / limited travel for training purposes. Maybe 5%.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (other duties as required):
- Variable analyses and projects:
- Analyze samples and finished products for microbiological contaminants (sample preparation, liquid culture, plating)
- Quantitatively analyze enzyme activity of various enzymes in samples and finished products
- Operate and monitor performance of lab equipment.
- Tracks timelines and associated documentation for assigned projects.
- Additional projects as required.
- Adhere to all Enzymedica, Inc. policies, procedures, safety rules & Regulations.
- Participate in Performance Improvement and safety initiatives, including job related and annual training(s), i.e., cGMP, SQF.
Supports Good Manufacturing Principles (cGMP) and Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI) certification by the following (but not limited too):
- Adherence to cGMP and Safe Quality Food (SQF) practices, standard operating methods, and legal regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Document all production efforts in appropriate logs, forms, reports, and databases.
- Ensure the required quality and safety standards are achieved and maintained with respect to cGMP and SQF operating procedures, all documentation, area housekeeping, production suites, and compliance with the relevant regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Working and partnering with other groups for requirements relating to quality systems, safety, equipment maintenance, and warehousing for cGMP and SQF initiatives.
- Maintains appropriate employee hygiene and cleanliness.

- Sit for more than four hours; and stand, climb, walk for more than four hours.
