A short 30-minute drive up the Tamiami Trail lands you in the small city of Sarasota, where world famous beaches meet a modern downtown. Siesta Key Beach has consistently been voted one of America’s top beaches, known for its sugar-fine, quartz white sand. Siesta Key Village surrounds the beach and offers a diverse range of bars, restaurants, and shops. Fine-dining, casual bites to eat, and lively bars can all be found in the small downtown. Sarasota also has a long history with the arts. The Asolo Theatre and the Van Weazel feature plays, orchestras, and touring musical acts. The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art features a stunning collection of paintings and statues as well as traveling exhibits from other museums. If you’re a sports fan, you’ll be pleased to find out the Baltimore Orioles conduct their Spring Training in Sarasota, not to mention the many premier golf courses in the area. There’s also a ton of family-friendly attractions including Mote Marine Aquarium, and Jungle Gardens.
