Venice is home to the #1 high school in the state of Florida educating approximately 2,200 students in grades 2-12. The curriculum emphasizes rigor, differentiated instruction, and academic self-determination. In elementary and middle school, students take accelerated classes that go more in-depth than similar classes at other schools. Commonly known as the Shark Tooth Capital of the World, our beaches attract many people hoping to take home some prehistoric souvenirs. If you prefer fishing to sunbathing, the Venice Pier offers 700 feet of stunning views and premier fishing. With an average temperature of 73°F you’ll be able to enjoy the beach or the pier year-round.

Parks and Trails

Smooth and straight, the Legacy Trail is 12.5 miles of concrete that cuts through Oscar Sherer State Park and other picturesque scenery as it travels north up to neighboring Sarasota. Ideal for the cycling enthusiast or the leisurely weekend rider. The Venetian Waterway Park is a scenic 10-mile trail that hugs the coastline of the Intercoastal Waterway, offering plenty of water views and wildlife. Featuring playgrounds, fitness stops, and covered picnic areas this park has everything you are looking for. The trail also connects to Caspersen Beach, downtown Venice, and the Legacy Trail.

Sarasota, FL

A short 30-minute drive up the Tamiami Trail lands you in the small city of Sarasota, where world famous beaches meet a modern downtown. Siesta Key Beach has consistently been voted one of America’s top beaches, known for its sugar-fine, quartz white sand. Siesta Key Village surrounds the beach and offers a diverse range of bars, restaurants, and shops. Fine-dining, casual bites to eat, and lively bars can all be found in the small downtown. Sarasota also has a long history with the arts. The Asolo Theatre and the Van Weazel feature plays, orchestras, and touring musical acts. The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art features a stunning collection of paintings and statues as well as traveling exhibits from other museums. If you’re a sports fan, you’ll be pleased to find out the Baltimore Orioles conduct their Spring Training in Sarasota, not to mention the many premier golf courses in the area. There’s also a ton of family-friendly attractions including Mote Marine Aquarium, and Jungle Gardens.
